Happy New Year everyone, I hope this year is the best one ever for you! Welcome to my December dividend income post, the final one for 2019. 2019 was a great year for me in terms of income received I will share more about that later. December has always been a strong month for me due to my big holdings of Enbridge, Fortis, Canadian Utilities and Power Corp, this month did not disappoint. My income was the highest ever received!
For the month I had 21 stocks and one ETF pay me, a lot of deposits were made in my three accounts. My income for December was $752.25 and the breakdown per account is as follows:
- RRSP $417.09
- TFSA $253.95
- LIRA $81.21
Eight US stocks paid me so here is the currency that I received the dividends in. Just a reminder to keep things simple I report the US currency as Canadian that way I don’t have to convert it to Canadian.
- USD $108.61
- CDN $643.64
RRSP
2018 | 2019 | |
Enbridge | $101.32 | $114.39 |

Lockheed Martin | $19.20
Home Depot | $16.32 | |

BMO International Dividend ETF | $22.23
BMO US Dividend ETF | $32.23
Canadian Utilities | $29.50
Total | $405.22 | $417.09 |
Just a slight increase compared to last years total. This time next year I’m hoping there won’t be any sells in this account. It was a big month for the US paying stocks as eight of them paid this month. Also I should just mention that a couple of the US stocks dividends are lower this year compared to last year, that is only because last years total was converted into Canadian. This years figure is actually in US dollars.
TFSA

Corus Entertainment | $12.18
Total | $213.12 | $253.95 |
A big month for my TFSA income growth was 19% thanks mainly to Suncor and my ETF. The drip program also had a big hand as well as five of these stocks drip at the moment.
LIRA
2018 | 2019 | |
Enbridge | $69.11 | $77.49 |
Diversified Royalty Corp | $2.22 | $3.72 |
Total | $71.33 | $81.21 |
Dividend increases and one purchase of Diversified Royalty shares are the reasons for the nice raise here.

The Keg Royalties Income Fund | 1 | $1.13 |
Power Corp | 2 | $3.24 |
Diversified Royalty Corp | 1 | $0.23 |
Total | 17 | $21.12 |
Another solid month for DRIPs. Have you ever wished for a stock price to drop so you could get a stock from the drip? That’s what I was doing for Power Corp due to the rise in share price I missed out on dripping another share. I shouldn’t really complain it is nice to have some capital appreciation from Power Corp.
Since July when I turned the drip on my portfolio has been able to receive an additional 74 shares which have boosted my forward income by $78.86

I made one final purchase of 2019 in December. I purchased 242 shares of European Residential Reit.
Dividend Increases
I received two raises from core holdings in my portfolio.
- Bank of Montreal

That’s a wrap folks on my income post and for 2019.

Love the core holdings in your RRSP account. Those are some serious payouts!! $100 payouts are sweet! Congrats on reaching all time high in dividend income! That’s what it’s all about. Each year we’re getting closer and closer FI.

Oh so close to your goal Matthew. But isn’t that the point of a stretch goal? Really, it is a win, win. sure, you didn’t hit the goal. But man, look at all your progress during the year. Congratulations!!

[…] All About the Dividends – $752.25 – 2019 was an excellent year for Matthew. For December, and the rest of the year, Matthew received A LOT of dividend income. That’s what it is all about right there! […]

Looks like you had many portfolio changes over the course of the year, Matthew. However, it certainly didn’t put a dent in your YoY progress. $7.5K for the year is pretty sweet. Can’t wait to see what you do when you DRiP for an entire year, too.
